Lecture Abstract

Haematuria is the presence of blood or blood cells in the urine. The urinary red blood cell morphology has been reported to be useful in discriminating causes of haematuria. Acanthocytes, or ring-shaped dysmorphic red blood cells with blebs of membrane coming off, have been described by the laboratory personnel as “Mickey Mouse RBCs”. The presence of these dysmorphic cells in urine may indicate glomerular injury.

In this webinar, the first lecture will highlight the significance of isomorphic and dysmorphic haematuria and the second lecture will discuss the new approach to predict glomerular disease using flow cytometry.
