Sysmex Malaysia collaborate with PERTIWI Soup Kitchen to feed the Homeless
On 18 Jan 2016, twenty two (22) SMA staff and family collaborated with PERTIWI Soup Kitchen to feed the homeless people in Kuala Lumpur as part of our Greener Sysmex program. In this event, we work as a team to provide a simple meal, clothing and medical service to the homeless and hard-core poor. PERTIWI Soup Kitchen also provided sanitary kits. The event started at 9pm at Lorong Medan Tuanku 2 and we helped to distribute rice, fish and vegetables, and drinks. It was a humbling an interesting experience learning the distribution system to ensure the disabled, mothers and children were handed the food before the rest of the crowd. Some of us acted as ‘ runners’; where we help the recipients to carry the foods and drinks for those unable to do it, such as the elderly and children. SMA staff also donated recycled clothings to those in need of clothes.
After the first location, we headed to the next stop at Kota Raya, Kuala Lumpur. In Total we manage to feed about 800 homeless people and it was a well spent evening as we have the opportunity to help and understand the underprivileged population in Kuala Lumpur.
