Sysmex Malaysia’s (SMA) in collaboration with our National Blood Institute (Pusat Darah Negara, PDN) carried out a Blood Donation Campaign on the 19 July 2019. The event was held at the Ground Floor training room at our office premises at Bandar Sunway. We had an excellent turn out from SMA staff, their family members and from the staff of our neighboring offices. This was due to efforts from our salesperson Fazli who took the effort to post many flyers to the surrounding offices informing them of this blood donation event. We manage to collect a total of 45 packs (pints) of blood which exceeded previous year average of about 30 packs.

About a week later, SMA received a from the Director of PDN, Dr Noryati Bt Abu Amin expressing her sincere thanks for our dedication and collaboration to carry out this highly successful 2019 Blood Donation Campaign. She confirms that PDN will remain committed to collaborate with Sysmex for more future Blood Donation Campaigns and updated that PDN continues to face a lot of challenges meeting the ever-increasing demand for blood products from both the Government and Private Hospitals in Malaysia to save lives!

She also requested SMA blood donors to make effort to donate their blood at more regular intervals at the following PDN centers:

Pusat Darah Negara, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur
Pusat Darah Negara Donation Suite, Mid-Valley, Kuala Lumpur
According to an international study done by the UK National Health Service (NHS), a healthy adult male can donate blood every 3 months and adult female every 4 months. Hence SMA employees are encouraged to donate their blood every 6 monthly, and that will certainly go a long way to save the lives of many of our fellow Malaysians!
